Nystatin/Clotrimazole ( niss-TAH-tin/cloe-TRIM-ah-zole ) (Mycostatin®, Mycelex® Troche) What is this medication used for? It is an antifungal medicine used to prevent or treat fungal/yeast infections.
What does it look like? • Liquid • Tablet • Cream, ointment, or powder How is it given? • By mouth (oral or po; liquid is swished around before swallowing; tablet is dissolved in mouth) • Applied to skin (topical) What are the common side effects? • Nausea • Diarrhea • Itching or numbness in mouth What are the less common side effects? • Severe skin rash or reaction • Dark urine • Feeling tired (fatigue, malaise) • Stomach (abdominal) pain • Light-colored stools • Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice)
Special instructions: • Shake the liquid well before each use. • Allow the liquid to coat the lining of the mouth by swishing it around before swallowing. • The tablet should be allowed to dissolve in the mouth. • Do not drink or eat anything for 5-10 minutes after taking the liquid or tablet. • Topical Nystatin should be applied only to the affected area as directed by the healthcare provider. It should not be applied to other areas of the body. Contact your healthcare provider if severe mouth sores develop or if there is difficulty swallowing. • Stop using topical Nystatin and call your doctor immediately for severe burning, itching, rash, pain, or other irritation occurs where the medicine is applied.

Nistatina / Clotrimazol (Mycostatin®, Mycelex® Troche) ¿Para qué se utiliza este medicamento? Es un medicamento antimicótico que se utiliza para prevenir o tratar infecciones por hongos o levaduras. ¿ Cuál es su presentación?
Instrucciones especiales • Agite bien el líquido antes de cada uso. • Deje que el líquido cubra la mucosa bucal haciendo buches antes de tragar. • Deje que la tableta se disuelva en la boca. • No beba ni coma nada durante 5 a 10 minutos después de tomar el líquido o la tableta. • La nistatina tópica debe aplicarse solo en la zona afectada y siguiendo las indicaciones del profesional de la salud. No debe aplicarse en otras zonas del cuerpo. Consulte al profesional de la salud si presenta llagas bucales graves o dificultad para tragar. • Deje de usar la nistatina tópica y consulte a su médico de inmediato si presenta ardor, picazón, sarpullido, dolor u otra irritación intensa en la zona de aplicación.
