• Pay special attention to all creases, bends, and folds of skin. Dry the skin completely. • Change all clothing and bed linens after each bath. • Dressing changes: • Change the dressing every 6 hours after each bath. Avoid the use of any tape or occlusive dressings. • Do not cover the injection site during the bath. • Cleanse the injection site with sterile water and sterile cotton-tipped swabs. • Cover the injection site with sterile gauze and secure the dressing with nonadhesive material. • Follow this dressing procedure until 24 hours after the last dose. • For patients who wear diapers: • Avoid tight-fitting diapers. • Leave the diaper area open to the air when possible. • Use gloves when handling the linens or clothing of a person taking thiotepa.
