Dinutuximab ( din-yoo-TUK-sih-mab ) (Unituxin®) What is this medication used for?
Dinutuximab is a monoclonal antibody that binds to the GD2 glycolipid cell surface and induces cell breakdown through antibody- dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity and complement-dependent cytotoxicity. GD2 is highly expressed in neuroblastoma and peripheral sensory nerve fibers.
• Difficulty emptying the bladder • Fluid leaking out of veins, which may cause low blood pressure, shortness of breath, swelling of ankles • High blood pressure, which may cause headaches or dizziness • Blurred vision Special instructions: • IV fluids and medications to help prevent reactions will be given before each infusion. • Antihistamines will be given before each infusion. • Patients will be watched very closely throughout and following the infusion. Infusion may be slowed or stopped if any concerning symptoms are observed. • Pain medicine (opioids or others) may be given before, during, and after the infusion. • Blood tests will be done to check the blood cell count and electrolyte (potassium, calcium, and sodium) levels. • Consult a healthcare provider before becoming pregnant, fathering a child, or breastfeeding. It may be important to use birth control while taking this medicine and for several months after treatment is completed. • In utero exposure may cause fetal harm.

• Into the vein (IV) or venous access device What are the common side effects? • Fever • Pain • Cough • Rash • Reaction during or following infusion of the drug, which may cause fever, chills, rash, or low blood pressure • Low blood counts (white and red blood cells, hemoglobin, platelets, or neutrophils) • Low electrolyte levels (potassium and sodium) What are the less common side effects? • Infection • Blood clot • Diarrhea • Nausea, vomiting, or loss of appetite • Swelling of arms and legs (peripheral edema) • Allergic reaction, which may cause wheezing, shortness of breath, or swelling of the face or throat • Itching or hives • Numbness, tingling, or pain in the arms and legs (peripheral neuropathy)
