Bortezomib ( bore-TEZ-oh-mib ) (Velcade, Borozu ®) What is this medication used for? Bortezomib is an antineoplastic agent (cancer medicine). It interferes with the growth of cancer cells.

Special instructions: • If you have any of these rare but serious side effects you should contact your healthcare provider immediately: • Irregular heartbeat, fainting, or swelling in legs/ankles/ belly • Pain, swelling or hardened vein in your arms or legs • Sudden loss of vision, speech, or the use of your limb(s) or chest pain, shortness of breath), or severe pain in belly or limb • Severe headache, seizures, confusion • Swollen face, lip or tongue, chest or throat tightness • Severe/sudden belly pain or stomach area, bloating, severe constipation • Tender right side of belly, yellowish skin or eyes, dark urine
• Into the skin (subcutaneously or subq) • Into the vein (IV) or venous access device What are the common side effects? • Fatigue or low energy • Diarrhea • Nausea and/or vomiting • Constipation • Tingling or numbness in your hands or feet (peripheral neuropathy) • Fever and/or chills • Low blood counts (platelets and neutrophils) • Decreased appetite • Cough or shortness of breath What are the less common side effects? • Skin rash or very dry and itchy skin • Difficulty sleeping
• Low blood pressure or dizziness • Cramps or pain in the abdomen
