Vorinostat ( voh-RIN-oh-stat ) (Zolinza®) What is this medication used for? Vorinostat is used to treat leukemias and cutaneous T-cell lymphoma.

What does it look like? • Capsules • Liquid How is it given? • By mouth (oral or po) What are the common side effects? • Mild Nausea or vomiting • Diarrhea • Low blood counts • Feeling of tiredness (fatigue, malaise) • Dizziness What are the less common side effects? • Cough • Decreased appetite and weight loss • Hair loss (alopecia) • Swelling of arms, legs, hands, or feet (peripheral edema) • Changes in kidney and liver function tests • Dehydration

Special instructions: • Do not open or break the capsules. If the capsules cannot be swallowed whole, tell your healthcare provider so the pharmacy can make a liquid suspension. • Take the medicine with food and plenty of fluids – at least 2 liters of water a day to keep from getting dehydrated. Avoid becoming dehydrated or overheated during exercise or in the summer months. • It is important to use birth control while taking this medicine and for 30 days after the last dose.
