Venetoclax ( ven-eet-oh-klax ) (Venclexta®) What is this medication used for? Venetoclax is used to treat relapsed or high risk leukemias. It targets a protein called BCL-2 on cancer cells and triggers a sequence of events that causes cancer cell death.

What does it look like? • Tablet How is it given? • By mouth (oral or po) What are the common side effects? • Abnormal electrolytes due to cancer cells being killed off quickly (tumor lysis syndrome) • Nausea • Diarrhea • Low blood counts (low platelets, low red blood cells, low white blood cells) • Cough • Muscle and joint pain

What are the less common side effects? • Shortness of breath

• Pain or cramps in your belly • Rash with dry or itchy skin • Swelling of arms, legs, hands, and feet • Constipation • Dizziness • Mouth sores Special instructions: • Take Venetoclax as prescribed by your health care provider at the same time each day with food and water. Avoid grapefruit products, Seville oranges, and starfruit while taking this medication. It is important to not chew, crush, or break tablets
