Temsirolimus ( tem-sir-oh-LEE-mus ) (Torisel®) What is this medication used for? Temsirolimus, a type of medication called a kinase inhibitor, may slow the growth of tumors so it is used to treat some types of cancer.

What does it look like? • Liquid How is it given?

What are the less common side effects? • High blood pressure (hypertension) • Allergic reaction • Back pain • Dry skin • Thinning of nails Weight loss, decreased appetite • Rash, hives, or difficulty breathing (allergic reaction) Special instructions: • Another medicine may be administered before temsirolimus to prevent an allergic reaction . • Notify your healthcare provider immediately if signs of an allergic reaction occur, such asdifficulty breathing, a rash, or hives). • Avoid drinking grapefruit juice or eating grapefruit while you are receiving this medicine. Grapefruit can interfere with the body’s absorption of the medicine,make treatment less effective. • In utero exposure may cause fetal harm.

• Into the vein (IV) or venous access device What are the common side effects? • Swelling (edema) • Skin rash • Decreased red blood cell, white blood cell, , and platelet counts • Diarrhea • Nausea or vomiting • Mouth sores • Feeling tired (fatigue, malaise)

• Increased cholesterol level (hyperlipidemia) • Increased blood sugar level (hyperglycemia) • Changes to liver function tests • Increased risk of infection
