Rho(D) Immune Globulin ( roe dee im-YOON GLOB-yoo-lin ) (WinRho® SDF, RhoGAM) What is this medication used for? Rho(D) immune globulinis used in the treatment of immune thrombocytopenia (also called ITP).

What does it look like? • Liquid How is it given?

Special instructions: • Your healthcare provider will look for antibodies to the red blood cells before prescribing rho(D) immune globulin because the administration could result in severe breakdown of red blood cells (hemolysis). • Call a healthcare provider immediately if shaking, fever, chills, back pain, decreased urine production or persistent dark urine, dark or black stools, or shortness of breath develop after this medication is administered. • Although rho(D) immune globulin is generally infused over 3–5 minutes, side effects may be reduced by infusing the medicine over a longer period of time. • After administration, a blood test and urinalysis will be performed to monitor for side effects. • Your healthcare provider may suggest taking another medication (for example, acetaminophen or diphenhydramine) before rho(D) immune globulin to reduce side effects.

• Into the vein (IV) or venous access device What are the common side effects? • Low red blood cell counts (low hemoglobin, anemia) • Low platelet count (thrombocytopenia) • Low white blood cell counts (neutropenia)Headache • Chills or fever • Dark pink or orange urine • Pain at the injection site • Low or high blood pressure during the infusion • Nausea • Vomiting • Diarrhea • Rash What are the less common side effects? • Decreased urine production • Swelling in the hands, feet, mouth, or tongue (allergic reaction) • Shortness of breath • Changes in kidney function
