Plerixafor ( plur-IKS-ah-fore ) (Mozobil®) What is this medication used for? Plerixafor is used in combination with granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) to release stem cells from the bone marrow, which increases the levels of stem cells in the body and makes them available to collect from the bloodstream.

What does it look like? • Liquid How is it given?

Special instructions: • Complete blood count and kidney tests are done before this drug is given. • Your spleen may be examined if you experience pain in the left upper stomach area or left shoulder area as these may be signs of an enlarged or ruptured (burst) spleen. • Consult your healthcare provider before becoming pregnant, fathering a child, or breastfeeding. It may be important to use birth control while taking this medicine and for several months after treatment is completed. • In utero exposure may cause fetal harm.

• Under the skin (subcutaneous or subq) What are the common side effects? • Low platelet count (thrombocytopenia) • Diarrhea • Nausea and/or vomiting • Feeling tired (fatigue, malaise) • Injection-site reaction • Headache • Joint pain (arthralgia) and muscle aches What are the less common side effects? • Insomnia • Fainting • Pain or tenderness on the left side of the upper abdomen, which may indicate bleeding from the spleen • Severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis), which may include hives, chest tightness, itching (pruritis), fever, cough, and swelling of the face, lips, tongue, throat, or eye area
