Liposomal Cytarabine ( lip-oh-SOH-mull sy-TAYR-uh-been ) (DepoCyt®) What is this medication used for? Liposomal cytarabine injures cancer cells, causing their death.

What does it look like? • Liquid How is it given? • Into the spinal fluid What are the common side effects? • Neck pain • Neck stiffness • Headache • Fever • Nausea or vomiting • Back pain What are the less common side effects?

Special instructions: • Dexamethasone will be started the day liposomal

cytarabine is first administered to decrease side effects. Call your healthcare provider if dexamethasone is not well tolerated. • You may bleed or bruise more easily. Be careful to avoid injury and use a soft toothbrush. • Avoid alcohol while receiving this medication. • Immediately call your healthcare provider if any of the following occur: limb weakness or numbness; loss of memory or vision; intellectual, cognitive, or behavioral problems; • In utero exposure may cause fetal harm.

• Confusion • Weakness • Excessive sleepiness

• Signs of high blood sugar such as confusion, feeling sleepy, thirst, hunger, urinating more frequently, fast breathing, or breath that smells like fruit
